The club was formed in 1973 by Kieran Carroll, Jimmy Daly and Seamus Killane in Mount Temple and were joined shortly after by long serving Secretary TP Hickey, who was honoured by the CCFL in 2008 for his contribution to football.
Many Well know players have played for the club over the years such as John Morris Burke, Padraig Nicholson, Dominic Fitzpatrick, Eric Molloy and Padraig Dully.
One of the clubs biggest achievements came in 1983 when the club defeated Cavan Town at St Mel’s Park and were crowned the John Farrell Counties Cup Champions. The club has won many league titles and cups in the Athlone Schoolboy/Girls league over the years.
At youth level the club currently competes in the Midland School Boys Girls League and the Combined Counties Football League at senior level and has a large membership base, catering for all age groups.
